War of the Worlds

Hello lovely people, welcome 🙂

Hubby and I have just enjoyed a week end away, this is a fairly rare occurrence and all the more special for it.

Back in January we treated ourselves to tickets for the ‘final arena tour of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds’ at Leeds FD arena.

Now I’m not sure what I was expecting but I suppose I thought the audience would be made up by people of a similar age to me who remembered The War of the Worlds being released in 1978 but no, it seems that unbeknown to me it has gathered a cult following and the arena was chock a block full, all 13,500 seats, with folk from all age groups enjoying the spectacle.

I took a couple of photos of the set to show you…

The music, singing and special effects were all outstanding.

This alien pod appeared from the rafters and spewed out real flames!

And here are my souvenirs of the trip, our tickets and tissue paper leaves which floated down on us during the song ‘Forever Autumn’.

Well worth going to see, if you get the chance 🙂

Now Leeds is a couple of hours drive away from where we live so you’ll be pleased to know that I took some stitching to do during the journey! But as it’s a pressie I can’t show it to you – yet 🙂

Until next time,

Craft Stall Done and Dusted

Hello and welcome 🙂

Saturday was the day of my craft stall and once I’d got over my nerves I enjoyed meeting and chatting to the people who kindly looked over my stall.

The other stall holders were a friendly lot, I knew most of them already and it was nice to spend time catching up.

SAM_4666This is my stall, I did a practise run on my dining table at home so on the day I was able to set it up quickly.

I didn’t seem to sell very much but I must have done better than I thought because when I eventually got round to counting what was in the ’till’ I realised I’d more than covered my costs and then some!

So would I do it again?

Hmm, ask me in a couple of weeks! For now I’m happy to have crossed off one of my New Year Resolutions – only one to go and I’ll have achieved them all 🙂

I came home with quite a bit of stock and as it would be  a shame to just box everything up and forget about it I’m thinking of opening an online shop. I know some of you have online shops so please drop me a line to let me know which one you think is the best and why. This is all very new to me.

Until next time,

Chris x

Just Lovely!

Hello and welcome 🙂

What a treat it is to receive fresh flowers and this is the bunch I have just been presented with as a thank you for coordinating and sewing in the School/Church banner project.

On behalf of all the team I gratefully accept this beautiful bouquet – and if any of you team members want to see it then come on over and I’ll pop the kettle on 🙂

At the moment in the UK  the weather is surprisingly sunny for this time of year and the garden flowers are still valiantly making an effort to cheer us all up

So even if you haven’t got a posh bouquet you can enjoy the flowers 😉

Until next time,

Special Times

It was about this time last year when Daughter graduated, and this week it’s been the turn of Son 1 to graduate from Bangor University in North Wales.

The sun shone and My hubby and I were, as always, very proud parents 🙂

Well done Son!

Cleaning Cupboards

This week I have been mainly … cleaning 😦

Well, it’s not really 😦 as it is nice to have a clean home and that makes me feel 🙂 !

My lovely hubby decorated the kitchen last week  so my self appointed task has been to clean inside all the cupboards.

I’ve been busy emptying all the clutter out and replacing a pruned version of the contents. Now I’m left with a pile of ‘what shall I do with this?’ stuff , shall I throw it, take it to a Charity shop (would anyone else want it anyway!) or give it away?

I can’t quite believe how many ‘nice’ tins I’ve been hoarding, goodness knows what I thought I’d do with them all!

During my crafting times I’ve been slowly working on my Geese piece and making LOTS of these…

SAM_4163

ready for the next stage of my Honeycomb quilt which is making these…

Hope you have a lovely crafty week end.

Until next time,
