Friday Night Sew In – July

Welcome πŸ™‚

The sun is shining and I’ve been spending a bit of time out in the garden. The tomatoes are doing well in the greenhouse but all my grand plans for a productive veggie plot are not going so well! We have a few carrots, lettuce and french beans ready to eat and the sweetcorn are looking leafy. The butternut squash are slowly doing their thing but the courgettes, which grew like wildfire last year, are struggling away. I’m quite sure I haven’t given my plot the care and attention it needs Β but my mind’s been on other things and I’m sure you can guess what that is πŸ˜‰

Last night was the Friday Night Sew In hosted by the lovely Wendy of Sugar Lane Designs.

I gathered a few bits and bobs together and pottered.

First of all I did a bit of Christmas sewing. I thought this was just so funny when I saw it – a plum pudding fairy – I mean how daft is that!?! I just had to give it a go!

as you can see she isn’t finished yet but a bit further on her way than she was before πŸ™‚

Then I finished another brooch, using pinky purple beads this time.

and that was it!

And as I stitched I munched on some chocolate so it was a pretty perfect evening!

Now I think I shall go over to Wendy’s blog and see what the other Friday Nighter’s got up to.

Until next time,

Stars or Blocks

Welcome πŸ™‚

The weather has been cooler this week and I find that I’m able to sit down and do things again. I’m so pleased that I don’t live in a hot climate as I’d never get anything done – just flake out in the shade!

I’m still doing a few wedding things but everything has quietened down a bit for now and I’m enjoying getting on with my EPP quilt although it’s still slow going!

I took it to my Thursday quilt group for the first time last week and was intrigued by people’s comments on it, it seems that we all definitely fall into two categories, those who see the tumbling blocks first and those (like me) who see the stars first.

I call it my Starry Night quilt and I’m thinking of what I can do to make it more star than tumbling block, any ideas out there? I’m quilting around the stars and I have some lovely star buttons to embellish it with when it’s all quilted and bound but any other ideas would be welcome.

I did a mini Christmas make last week,

Sweet πŸ™‚

Just need to make sure I don’t lose it before I can use it on the tree!
