Sewing Butterflies

Welcome 🙂

A little while ago I went to a brilliant workshop and learnt how to do thread painting (you can read about it here.). I made a couple of flowers and came home with a plan to make a few more.

Well I’ve been playing around with the technique and managed to not only finish making a few more flowers but also made a couple of butterflies too 🙂

I’ve added a few twirls and leaves around the flowers for a bit of extra detail.

and the butterflies have been cut out to become 3D.

In the workshop we were told to seal the edges of any 3D designs with PVA glue so these butterflies are patiently waiting for their wings to dry.

My plan is to now turn this into a wall hanging (really don’t need another one but I’m not sure the butterflies would survive being squashed if I made it into a cushion!).

Until next time,
